The 16th Annual Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade Promises to Be the Biggest and Most Exciting Event of the Summer For the Entire San Fernando Valley.


Canoga Park, CA May 28, 2004 -- The 16th Annual Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade, sponsored by Valley of the Stars, Canoga Park/West Hills Chamber of Commerce, Councilman Dennis P. Zine and the Canoga Park Community Center, is being presented on Monday, May 31, 2004. The parade begins at 11am at Sherman Way and Remmet in Canoga Park. The memorial day parade is the largest summer event in the San Fernando Valley and this years theme is "American Pride".

Over 50,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Canoga Park along the two mile parade route. The Parade culminates a weekend of Memorial Day celebration that begins with the 2-day Warner Center Run & Ride, Levine Kids Fitness Challenge and Battle of the Bands (www.yellowjerseysinc.com).

Our Honorary Parade Chairman, Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis P. Zine, will be joined with the Honorary Grand Marshal, Senator Richard Alarcon, Parade Grand Marshal, Garth Kemp of ABC7 Eyewitness News, Media Grand Marshal, morning talk show host Dan Avey from sponsoring radio station 790 KABC Talk Radio http://www.kabc.com/listingsEntry.asp?ID=69291&PT=Events, Latina Grand Marshal, Angelica Alderete – Mrs. American International 2004, Celebrity Grand Marshal, David Shark Fralick of the No. 1 CBS daytime series "The Young & The Restless", Pro Sports Grand Marshal, legendary NBA Hall of Fame Player Bill Sharman (only one of three players in NBA history who has been placed into the NBA Hall of Fame both as a player and a coach. Sharman was just inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame as a coach this year), and a host of TV celebrities, including Morning News Celebrity Marshal Chris Schauble, Co-Anchor of NBC4's "Today in LA," Ms. T.J. Myers star of the new USA Network series "Combat Mission", Ronald McDonald, numerous VIPs, local dignitaries and civic leaders. More celebrities are being confirmed and will be announced.

This parade dates back to the 1940s, but became an annual Memorial Day event in 1989 drawing 20,000 spectators and showcasing 95 parade units.

For 2004, Immortals Car Club and it's co-founder Brett Schoneman added dozens of classic and modern day race cars to the mix. And Mr. Schoneman who is also serving as the V.I.P. Car Marshal for the event will provide a full photo gallery of all of the cars which will help preserve the memory of all of these exciting automobiles. The photo gallery will display the parade pictures beginning Wednesday, June 3rd and will continue to expand to include additional photos from the onsite photographers as they arrive.
