Rambling Round collection rouses laughter and a nice, warm feeling

NUTLEY N.J. -- New Jersey author Anthony Buccino has published his third collection of essays in Rambling Round – Inside and Outside At The Same Time, (Trade Paperback, 217 p, ISBN 1-4010-2912-4) now available at www.xlibris.com.

Raised in Belleville, the Nutley author writes essays from the heart and the hearth about everyday life. With its local flavorings, this showcase recalls life in New Jersey through the past five decades, from its western mountains to its eastern river and much of life in Essex County, too.

Buccino maintains his New Jersey roots in these essays recalling scouting in Blairstown, and his recent lunch times spent along the Hudson River in Jersey City. Nutley, too, often provides a backdrop for some of his casual essays, with references to the Mud Hole, and air-raid drills at Holy Family School as it was then called.

More nostalgia than history lessons, Buccino remembers the taste of a good peach directly from the tree when he was a boy growing up in Belleville. Who can forget turning the soil for the family's tomato garden, or those carefree teenage joyrides to Albino Village and the fabled Monk's Castle? Neither can Buccino, who comes full circle to teach his daughter to drive, among other life passages.

Buccino takes on New Jersey icons, the Newark City Subway, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike in separate essays that will perk up every Jerseyan's ears for more of the same.

Plus, sprinkled throughout, with humor and respect are the essays that try to understand the complicated and newfangled things such as canned-soup-in-a-jar, losing a wallet in a large Home Supply store, and the new light rail systems sprouting in the state.

Some might say that Buccino began his writing career in Belleville in the sixth grade when he was named editor of The Bellwood Crier, School 10's student newspaper. In 1996-1998, Buccino was managing editor of The Belleville Post, The Nutley Journal, The Independent Press of Bloomfield and The Glen Ridge Paper where many of these essays were first published. He was also editor of the Belleville Times.
